Memorial Park WPA Stone Water Race Rehabilitation Project
This historic preservation project focused on restoring the stone channel that connects the park’s stormwater retention ponds to the Little River. Originally constructed in 1937 as part of a New Deal-era Works Progress Administration initiative, the stone water race has long been a defining feature of the park.
The restoration combined original craftsmanship with modern engineering, using reclaimed and native glacial stone to maintain the structure’s authenticity. This effort not only revitalized the 1930s-era spillway but also reinforced its durability for generations to come.
More than just infrastructure, the Memorial Park Spillway is a cherished landmark—a symbol of community heritage that has stood the test of time. It was an honor to help preserve its character and charm while ensuring its continued function within the park’s ecosystem. This subtle yet meaningful enhancement safeguards a piece of local history and reflects our commitment to thoughtful, lasting restoration.
